BROADWAY BOOGIE-WOOGIE
2024, 16mm dual projection / Digital single channel projection

Named after one of Mondrian’s final paintings (before his premature death as a destitute immigrant), Broadway Boogie-Woogie explores the neighbourhood surrounding the artist’s studio through a psychadelic prism, The Garment District. Through in camera editing, city streets transform into optical vibrations, the disintigration akin to Mondrian’s “destruction of melody [...] the destruction of natural appearance; and construction through the continuous opposition of pure means—dynamic rhythm.

Projected onto the surface of an entire city block in Tribeca, Cortland Alley, August 2024.
